OF this Family, (whose chief Seat was at Lemington, in Com. War. commonly called Lemington-Hastang) was Atrop Hastang;* 1.1 who gavea 1.2 to the Canons of Nostell, in Com. Ebor. the Churches of Lemington and Newbold; and likewise that of Chebsey, in Com Staff. which Grant, Atrop* 1.3 his Son confirm∣ed, b 1.4 and bestowedc 1.5 on the Canons of Kenil∣worth the Church of Whitnash. Likewise d 1.6 on the Canons ••of Osney, half an hyde of Land in UUhitnash, and one 1.7 the Nuns of UUrorhall, certain Lands in Hasedey.

To this last mentioned Atrop, succceded Hum∣phrey,* 1.8 his Son and Heir; which Humphrey took f 1.9 part with the Rebellious Barons, against King Iohn; by reason whereof, his Lands were seised, g 1.10 but, in 1. H. 3. returning to obedience, they were restoredh 1.11 to him again.

And to him Robert,* 1.12 who Marriedi 1.13 Ioane, the Daughter and Co-heir to William de Curli. This Robert, in 41 H. 3. gavek 1.14 a Mark in Gold,

for respiting his Knighthood; but afterwards ta∣king l 1.15 part with Montfort, Earl of Leicester, he wasm 1.16 one of those, which held out Kenil∣worth-Castle, during the whole six Months Siege thereof, in 49 and 50 H. 3. for which his Lands were seised, and givenn 1.17 to Sir Iames de Alditbley, and Sir Hugh de Turbervill, for the redemption whereof, he compounded,o 1.18 accord∣ing to the rule prescribed by that memorable De∣cree, called Dictum de Kenilworth.

To whom succeeded another Robert,* 1.19 who in 4 E. 2. received Summonsp 1.20 to be at Carlisle, on the Morrow after All Souls day, well fitted with Horse and Arms, to march into Scotland, with ten Men at Arms of his Retinue; and in 10 E. 2. was constitutedq 1.21 one of the Commis∣sioners, to Treat with Robert de Brus, and his Party in Scotland, upon a Truce betwixt both Realms. In 11 E. 2. he was againr 1.22 in the Sco∣tish Wars. So likewise ins 1.23 13 E. 2. And had Summonst 1.24 to Parliament in 5 E. 2. but no more.

After this, viz. in 1 E. 3 I find mention of Thomas de Hastang;* 1.25 and that he was the same year inu 1.26 the Wars of Scotland: as also; that in 5 E. 3. he had Summons to Parliament, but ne∣ver after. Likewise, that he had Issue,x 1.27 Sir Iohn de Hasting Knight, who left two Daughters, his Heirs, viz. Maud, marriedy 1.28 to Raphe de Staf∣ford, from whom the Staffords of Grafton, in Com. Wigorn. did descend) and Ioane toz 1.29 Sir Iohn Salisbury, Knight.
