To prepare the ☽ for this Work.

DIssolve ℥viij. of ☽ in ℥viij. of Spirit of Nitre, then Precipitate with Salt {water}, the Powder of ☽ being settled, and the {water} clear, decant; then edulcorate the Powder and dry it, then dissolve it again in Spirit of Nitre as before; Precipitate, Edulcorate, and dry the ☽ as before. Repeat once more, three times in all, then put it in a Matrass, and digest it eight days in Sand. So is it prepa∣red, and fit to be further prepared, and dis∣solved in the Oyl of fixt {sal armoniac}, and fixt Sul∣phur.
