Riches and Honours are Good; The desire of possessing them is Natural to all Men: But if these Good Things a∣gree not with Virtue, the Wise Man ought to cotemn, and generously to renounce them. On the contrary, Po∣verty and Ignominy are Evils; Man Naturally avoids them: If these Evils attack the Wise Man, it is lawful for him to rid himself from them, but it is not lawful to do it by a Crime.
