PSAL. XXXI.

IN thee, O Lord, do I put my trust, let mee never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righte∣ousnesse.

IN thee, O Lord, I put my trust, sham'd let me never be: And in thy righteousnesse also do thou deliver me.

2 Bow down thine ear to me, deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.

2 Bow down thine ear to me, with speed let me deliverance have: For of defence, an house be thou my strong rock, me to save.

3 For thou art my rock and my fortresse, therefore for thy Names sake lead me, and guide me.

3 For thou art he whom I my rock and fortresse als do make, Therefore do thou me lead and guide ev'n for thine own names sake,

4 Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.

4 Do thou me pull out of the net, that they in any part So privily have laid for me, for that my strength thou art.

5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.

5 Into thine hand I do commit my spirit which came from thee O Lord, who art the God of truth thou hast redeemed me.

6 I have hated them that regard lying vani∣ties, but I trust in the Lord.

Page [unnumbered]

6 I unto them have hatred born, who to regard accord The vanities that lying are, but I trust in the Lord.

7 I will be glade and rejoice in thy mercy for thou hast considered my trouble, thou ha•…•… known my soul in adversities:

7 I'le in thy mercy glade rejoice, for thou my miseries Considered hast, thou hast my soul known in adversities.

8 And hast not shut me up into the hand 〈◊〉〈◊〉 the enemie: thou hast set my feet in a large room

8 And als into the enemies hand shut up thou hast not me, Thus by thee have my feet been set in a large room to be,

9 Have mercy upon me O Lord, for I am 〈◊〉〈◊〉 trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, ye•…•… my soul and my belly.

9 O Lord for I in trouble am, have mercy upon me; Mine eye, my belly, yea my soul with grief consumed be.

10 For my life is spent with grief, and m•…•… years with sighing, my strength saileth, b•…•…∣cause of mine iniquitie, and my bones are cos∣•…•…umed.

Page [unnumbered]

10 For thus my life with grief is spent, my years als with my grones; My strength doth fail, and for my sin consumed are my bones.

11 I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.

11 'Mong all my foes reproach I was, 'mong neighbours speciallie, To mine acquaintance fear; without who saw me fled from me.

12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of minde; I am like a broken vessell.

12 I am forgotten as a man that out of minde is dead, And I like to a vessell am that broken is indeed.

13 For I have heard the slander of many▪ fear was on every side, while they took counsell together against me, they devised to take away my life.

13 For slanders I of many heard, fear compast me while they 'Gainst me took counsell, they devis'd to take my life away,

14 But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said Thou art my God.

Page [unnumbered]

14 But as for me, O Lord, my trust upon thee then I laid, And unto me thou art a God unto thee then, I said:

15 My times are in thy hand: deliver mee from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

15 My times they are within thy hand: do thou deliver me Both from mine enemies hand, and them that persecute do me.

16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies sake

16 Thy countenance to shine do thou upon thy servant make, Unto me give salvation, for thine own mercies sake.

17 Let me not be ashamed, O Lord, for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be a∣shamed, and let them be silent in the grave.

17 Let me not be asham'd, O Lord, for on thee call'd I have; Let wicked men be sham'd, let them be silent in the grave.

18 Let the lying lips be put to silence: whic•…•… speak grievous things proudly and contemptu•…•… ously against the righteous.

Page [unnumbered]

18 The lying lips to silence put, which grievous things speak thus Both proudly and contemtuously against the righteous.

19 O how great is thy goodnesse, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee: which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee, before the sons of m•…•…n!

19 How great's the goodnesse thou laid up hast for those that thee fear, And wrought for them that in thee trust before mens children heer!

20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion, from the strife of tongues.

20 In secret of thy presence thou shalt hide them from mans pride, From strife of tongues thou secretly shalt in a tent them hide.

21 Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindnesse in a strong citie.

21 For ever blessed be the Lord, for he to me so long Hath shew'd his kindnes marvellous within a city strong.

22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off f•…•…om before thine eyes: neverthelesse thou heardest

the voice of my supplications, when I cried unto thee.

22 For I said in my haste, cut off I'm from before thine eye, Yet thou heard'st of my prayer the voice when I to thee did cry.

23 O love the Lord all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithfull, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

23 O love the Lord, all ye his Saints, for God the faithfull guards; And plentifully him that is the doer proud rewards.

25 Be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

24 Be ye now of a courage good, and he shall strength afford, Unto your heart; even all ye that do hope in the Lord.
