PSAL. XVII.

HEar the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry▪ give ear unto my prayer that goeth not out of fained lips.

ATtend unto my cry, O Lord, and hear the right from me, My prayer hear that go'th not out of lips that fained be.

2 Let my sentence come forth from thy pre∣sence: let thine eyes behold the things that are equall.

2 And from thy presence do thou let my sentence forth proceed, And let thine eyes behold the things that equall are indeed.

3 Thou hast proved mine heart, thou hast vi∣sited me in the night, thou hast tried me, and shalt finde nothing: I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgresse.

3 Thou prov'dst my heart, thou visit'dst me and me in night didst try

And nothing findst, my mouth shall not transgresse, so purpose I.

4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips, I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

4 Concerning all the works of men, by thy lips words that be, Of the destroyer from the paths I have preserved me.

5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

5 My goings every one do thou within thy paths hold up, That so the footsteps that are mine away may never slip.

6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

6 I called have on thee, O God, for that thou wilt▪ me hear: Hear thou my speech, and unto me do thou incline thine ear.

7 Shew thy marvellous loving kindnesse, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee, from those that rise up a∣gainst them.

7 Thy marv'lous loving kindnesse shew; thou that by thy right hand

Sav'st them that in thee trust, from those that up against them stand.

8 Keep me as the apple of the eye: hide me under the shaddow of thy wings.

8 O do thou me most safely keep, as th'apple of the eye, Under the shadow of thy wings most closely hide thou me.

9 From the wicked that oppresse me, from my deadly enemies, who compasse me about.

10 They are inclosed in their own fat▪ with their mouth they speak proudly.

9 From wicked that m'oppresse, who me compasse as deadly soes: 10 They with their mouth do proudly speak, their fat doth them inclose.

11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth.

11 Those men have us now in our steps compassed with deceit; And bowing down unto the earth their eyes thus have they set.

12 Like as a Lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

12 Like as a very Lion that is greedy of his prey, A Lion young which lurking doth in secret places stay.

13 Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked which is thy sword:

13 Arise, and him do disappoint, and cast him down, O Lord, My soul do from the wicked man deliver, who's thy sword,

14 From men which are thy hand, O Lord, from the men of the world, which have their portion in this life:

14 From men which are thy hand, O Lord, from men that worldly be, Which in this life that present is their portion have from thee.

And whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

Whose belly with thy treasure hid thou fillest of the best; They full of children, to their babes leave of their wealth the rest.

15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righ∣teousnesse: I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likenesse.

15 But as for me in righteousnesse I thine own face will see, Then with thy likenes when I wake I satisfi'd shall be.
