PSAL. CXXXIX.

O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2 Thou knowest my down sitting, and mine up-rising: thou understandest my thought a∣far off.

O Lord, thou hast me search'd & known: 2 Thou understandst what are My sitting down, and rising up: thou know'st my thought afarre.

3 Thou compassest my path, and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my wayes.

3 My path thou and my lying down compassest in each part; And likewise thou with all my wayes right well acquainted art.

4 For there is not a word in my tongue: but lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

4 For in my tongue while I do speak there is not any word But lo it altogether is unto thee known, O Lord.

5 Thou hast beset me behinde and before: and laid thine hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderfull for me: it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

5 Thou me besetst behind, before, and laidst thine hand on me, 6 Such knowledge is for me too strange, it to attain's too hie.

7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

7 O whether from thy sprit shall I go there hid for to be? Or from thy presence me to save, O whether shall I flee?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if▪ I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

8 If I ascend up into heav'n, thou there art as else where; If I do make my bed in hell, behold thou als art there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning: and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me: and thy right hand shall hold me.

9 If mornings wings I take and dwell in utmost parts of sea: 10 There even shall thy hand me lead, thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darknesse shall co∣ver me: even the night shall be light about mee.

11 If I should say the darknesse shall then surely cover me, Ev'n then the very night it self shall light about me be.

12 Yea the darknesse hideth not from thee, but the night shineth as the day: the darknesse and the light are both alike to thee.

12 Yea darknesse hideth not from thee, as day so shines the night; Unto thee also are alike both darknesse and the light.

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mothers womb.

13 For those my reins that in me are possessed were by thee, And thou within my mothers womb hast also cov'red me.

14 I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, marvellous are thy works▪ and that my soul knoweth right well.

14 I will thee praise, for fearfully, and strangely made I am, Thy works are marv'lous, and my soul right well doth know the same.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret: and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when as in secret I Was made, and in earths lowest parts was wrought then curiously.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet be∣ing unperfite, and in thy book all my members were written,

16 Thine eyes did all my substance see, yet being unperfite, And als within thy book thou didst these all my members write:

Which in continuance were fashioned: when as yet there was none of them.

Which after in continuance were fashion'd ev'ry one, When as that any being had yet of them there was none.

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God: how great is the sum of them?

17 O God, how also precious are ever unto me The thoughts thou hast; how great likewise the summe of them now be?

18 If I should count them, they are moo in number then the sand: when I awake I am still with thee.

18 If I should count them, then the sand they mo•…•… in number be▪ And whensoever I awake then I am still with thee.

19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloudy men.

19 O God, thou wilt them surely slay that wicked be in heart, Therefore ye that are bloody men, do ye from me depart.

20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy Name in vain.

20 For they against thee wickedly do speak with great disdain, And they that are thine enemies do take thy Name in vain.

21 Do not I hate them, O Lord: that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

Page [unnumbered]

21 O Lord all them that do thee hate do I not hate likewise? And am I not als griev'd with those that up against thee rise?

22 I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them mine enemies.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

22 With perfect hatred I them hate, my foes I count them so: 23 Lord search me, know my heart, me try, my thoughts all do thou know.

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me: and lead me in the way everlasting.

24 And see if any wicked way at all there in me be, And in the everlasting way a leader be to me.
