But Jeshurun waxt fat and kickt,
thou art grown fat, thou art grown thick,
Cover'd with fatness finely slick;
and this was it that made him kick.

Then he forsook his God on high
that made him and all other men,
And he esteem'd but carelesly
the God of his Salvation then.

With strange Gods they did all the while
provoke Him unto jealousie:
And with abominations vile
mov'd Him to anger vehemently.

They sacrific'd to Devils there,
and not to God: To Gods unknown,
New Gods, and new come up they were,
such as their Fathers did not own.
