pRobus after regned full seuene yere And iiii monethis which by his hye renoun Geyne saturnynus with a knightly chere And brought him proudly to subiection Nat withstondynge hat be in rome toun Toke vpon him of wylfull tyrannye Hooly thempire for to rule and guye
Beside the cyte callyd agrypyne This seide probus geyn many proude romayne A batayle had list nat to declyne Mette protulus a mighty stronge capteyne With one Bonosus and both they were slayne And all their meyne of very force and might Slayne in the felde the remenaūt put to flight
After this bataile and this disconfiture Probus was lodgyd in Smyryue a great cite And there vnwarely of soden auenture Slayne in a toure that called was Ferre But a small ceson last his prosperite Which is fortune late noman in hir trust All worldly thinges chaungynge as she lust
