Howe to knowe the age of the Moone in everie moneth throughout the yeare. Chapter. 4. (Book 4)

ADde to the Epact the number of monethes from the beginning of March, together with the moneth wherein you séeke, and also the number of the dayes past of that moneth, wherein you séeke, and the summe of such addition will shewe you the age of the Moone, as for example, I would know the age of the Moone the sixt day of December in the yeare 1590. Here knowing the Epact of that yeare to bee 4. I adde thereunto the number of the moneths from the beginning of March, which are 10. moneths, and also the number of daies of December, which are sixe, and the summe thereof is the age of the Moone, if the sum bee lesse than 30. But if the summe of such addition do excéede 30. then you must subtract 30. and the remainder shall bée the age of the Moone, so as the moneth where∣in you séeke haue 31. dayes, for if it hath lesse than 31. dayes,

then you must subtract but 29. and the remainder shall bee the age of the Moone, as for example, suppose you séeke the age of the Moone the 22. of Nouember in the yeare 1589. in which yeare the Epact was 23. here by adding to the Epact first 9. Moneths, and then twentie two dayes, it maketh in all 54. out of which by subtracting 29. because Nouember hath but 30. daies, the remainder is 25. which was the age of the Moone in that mo∣neth, day, and yeare.
