It is without all doubte that both these names and offices haue* 1.1 bene in Christes Church, long before Nicene Councell, and that they haue had in the same continuance euen to this daye: as partlye if may be gathered by that which I haue spokē before, and most mani∣festly by all histories and learned writers from before that Councell of Nyce to this instant houre: and therefore they little consydered what they writte, when they set it downe that these names and offi∣ces were straunge and vnheard of in the Church of Christ.
These men contemning auncient writers neuer read them, & that is the cause of such vnlearned assertions.
