The Minories.
Here was an Abbey of Nunnes,* 1.1 of the order of Saint Clare, founded by Blanch, Queene of Nauarre, and her husband Edmund, Earle of Lancaster, Leicester, and Darby, brother to King Edward the first, in the yeere 1293. This house was valued to dispend yeerely 418 l. 8 s. 5 d. and was surren∣dred by Dame Elizabeth Sauage, the last Abbesse there, vnto King Henry the eight, in the 30 of his raigne.
