CHAP. XXII.
1 A * Good name is to be chosē aboue good* 1.1 riches, anda 1.2 〈◊〉〈◊〉 fauour is aboue sil∣uer and aboue golde.* 1.3
2 * The riche and pooreb 1.4 mete together: the Lord (is) the maker of them all.
3 * A prudent man seeth thec 1.5 plague, and hi∣deth* 1.6 him selfe: but the foolish go on still, and are punished.
4 The rewarde of humilitie (and) the feare of God (is) riches, and glorie, and life.
5 Thornes (and) snares (are) in the way of the fro warde: (but) he that regardeth his soule, will 〈◊〉〈◊〉 farre from them.
6 Teache a childed 1.7 in the trade of hys waye, and when he is olde, he shall not departe from it.
7 The riche ruleth the poore, and the boro∣wer (is) seruant to the man that lendeth.
8 He that soweth iniquitie, shall reape afflicti∣on, and thee 1.8 rodde of his angre shal faile.
9 * He that hathe a goodf 1.9 eye, he shalbe bles∣sed: for he giueth of his bread vnto the pore* 1.10
10 Cast out the scorner, and strife shall go out: so contention and reproche shal cease.
11 He that loueth purenes of heart (for) the gra ce of lips, theg 1.11 King (shalbe) his friend.
12 The eyes of the Lordh 1.12 preserue knowled∣ge: but he ouerthroweth the wordes of the transgressour.
13 The slouthfull man saith,i 1.13 Alyon (is) with∣out, I shal be slaine in the strete.
14 The mouth of strange women (is as) a depe pit: he with whom the Lord is angrie,k 1.14 shal fall therein.
15 Foolishnes is boundei 1.15 in the heart of a child: but the rodde of correction shal driue it away 〈◊〉〈◊〉 〈◊〉〈◊〉.
16 He that 〈◊〉〈◊〉 〈◊〉〈◊〉 the poore to increase himself, (〈◊〉〈◊〉 giueth vnto the riche, (shall) surely (come) to pouertie.
17 ¶ Incline thine eare, and heare the wordes of the wise, and applie thine heart vnto my
