To Tymothe hys be∣loued sōne. Grace, mercy and peace, from God the father, and from Iesu Christe oure Lorde.
I thynke God, * 1.1 whom I serue from myne elders with pure cōscyence, that with∣out any ceasynge I make mencion of the in my prayers nyght and daye, desyringe to se the, myndfull of thy teares: so that I am fylled with ioye, when I call to remēbraūce the vnfayned fayth that is in the, whiche dwelt fyrst in thy graund mother Lois, and in thy mother Eunica, & I am assure that it dwelleth in the also.
