The XXXV. Chapter.
[ A] WHo so kepeth the lawe, bryngeth of¦ferynges ynough.* 1.1 He that holdeth fast the commaundement, offreth the right health offrynge. He yt is thankfull & recompenseth, offreth fyne floure.* 1.2 Who so is mercifull & geueth allmes, yt is the right thank offrynge. God hath pleasure, whā one departeth frō synne: & to forsake vnrighte∣ousnes recōcileth vs wt him. Thou shalt not appeare emptye before ye LORDE,* 1.3 for all soch is done because of ye cōmaundemēt. The of∣feringe of ye righteous maketh ye aulter fatt, & a swete smell is it before ye Hyest. The offe¦rynge of the righteous is acceptable vnto God, & shal neuer be forgottē.* 1.4 Geue God his hono with a chearfull eye, & kepe not backe the firstlinges of ye handes. In all thy giftes shew a mery countenaunce,* 1.5 & halowe thy ti∣thes vnto God wt gladnes. Geue vnto God,* 1.6 acordinge as he hath enriched & prospered their loke what thine hande is able, yt geue wt a chearfull eye: for the LORDE recompen∣seth, & geueth ye seuē tymes as moch againe.
Geue no vnrighteous giftes, for soch wil [ B] not he receaue. Bewarre of wrongeous offe¦ringes, for ye LORDE is a righteous iudge,* 1.7 & regardeth no mans personne: He accepteth not the personne of the poore, but he heareth ye prayer of ye oppressed.* 1.8 He despyseth not ye desyre of ye fatherles, ner ye wyddow, whan she poureth out hir prayer before him. Doth not God se ye teares, yt renne downe ye chekes of the wyddow? Or heareth he not the com¦playnte, ouer soch as make her to wep••▪ Who so serueth God after his pleasure, shalbe ac∣cepted, & his prayer reacheth vnto the clou∣des. The prayer of him yt humbleth himself,* 1.9 goeth thorow ye cloudes, tyll she come nye. She wyl not be comforted, ner go hir waye, [ C] tyll ye hyest God haue respecte vnto her, ge∣ue true sentēce, & perfourme ye iudgmēt. And ye LORDE wil not be slack in cōmynge, ner ta¦ry longe: tyll he haue smyttē in sonder ye bac¦kes of ye vnmercyfull, & auenged himself of ye Heithen: tyll he haue takē awaye ye multi¦tude of ye cruell, & brokē the cepter of the vn¦righteous: tyll he geue euery man after his workes, & rewarde them as they haue deser∣ued: tyll he haue delyuered his people, mayn¦tened their cause, & reioysed them in his mer¦cy. O how fayre a thinge is mercy, in the ty∣me of anguysh & trouble? It is like a cloude of rayne, yt cōmeth in ye tyme of a drouth.
