S. Iohn his brother preached the gospel in Asia, and being driuen into exile in the Ile Pathmos by Domitian the em∣perour, he there both wrote the gospel, and had his reuelation.* 1.1 He died at Ephesus, in the time of Traianus the Emperour. Where note by the way (to auoid the varietie which seemeth in some of the auncient fathers, and historiographers) that al∣beit Domitian banished S. Iohn into Pathmos, yet did S. Iohn suruiue Domitian, and died in the daies and reigne of Traian.
