Of the Griphin.

THe Griphin is a Foule of plentifull and thicke fether, & foure footed withall. This kinde of Foule is saide to liue in the Hilles or Mountaines, called Hiperborei, which be as some say, set in the fardest part of the North right vnder the Northpole. In their head they be like the Lion, in wing & flight like the Ea∣gle. It is saide to be enuious both to Horse and Man. Some say that they are set to kéepe the Precious stones as the Smarage, the Iasper and so forth of such as grow there. And to looke to them.
