¶ Howe his sonne sholde take mākynde. Capittulo. xv. (Book 15)
BUt for to wete / of what stocke he shal spring
Ot what kynrede / and of what estate
My sothfast worde eternally lyuynge
Myne owne sonne / with me encreate
Shall downe be sent to be incarnate
And wrappe hym selfe in the mortall kynde
Of man (for loue) so that he may fynde.
¶ A clene grounde / his palayce vnto bylde
In all the erthe neyther of lyme ne stone
But in a mayde / debonayre and mylde
The humble doughter of Iuda and Syon
And vnto her / shall trouthe & mercy gone
By one accorde / sent afore my face
Lyke my deuyse / to chese me a place.
¶ And say to her in all maner thynge
Her tabernacle / that she make fayre
Agaynst the comyng of her myghty kynge
Whiche is my sonne and myne owne heyre
That in her breste / shall haue his repeyre
Where trouth & mercy shall to gyde•• met••
By one assent / and her rancour lete.
¶ And there shall peace kysse rightwysnes
And all the susters accorde in that place
And right shall leue all her stourdines
And trewthes swerde / shall nomore manace
