SCondia, Schondania, or Scondenmar∣chia,* 1.1 is as much to say, as faire Dania, or faire Denmarke, Plinye nameth it Scandia. It was named Scondia, by reson of the fairenesse and fruitfulnesse thereof, replenished wt fresh riuers, hauens, mart townes, fish, beasts, golde, siluer, copper, & lead. It is supposed that the olde Gréek•• and Latines knew of this, for that they held opinion, in the North parts the cold Zone or clime was condempned to per∣petuall Snowe, intollerable to all liuing creatures, the Germanes, and these peo∣ple now va••••t the king of Denmark did vse stra••••ke togethers.
