Of Whoorlepits. cap. 19.
A Whoorlpit is called Gurgis, and is a déep place in a riuer, & hath that name of Gutture, a throat, as Isid. saith. For it swalloweth in waters yt come there∣to, & throweth them vp againe. So for his déepenesse he moueth rounde about, whirling & rebounding: Therfore swim∣mers be oft perished. Also fish hide them∣selues most in whoorlepooles, and are vn∣neth taken, while they come out of the whoorlepoole.
