* 1.1THe sole of the foote is the vttermost part of the beast, and is called Planta in Latine for it is plaine: and it is néed∣full that it be plaine, to sticke the faster in the earth, as saith Isid. And it is heled and cloathed with harder skinne than the other part of the body, least it bée so∣dainly grieued with thornes, bryers, or with other prickes. And therefore of breasts the féete are wrapped, wounde, and armed with clawes, hooues & soles, that they are not lightly hurt with trea∣ding. And the soles of the feete beare all the heauinesse and waight of the bodye. And therefore they néede hosen & shooes, deast they be hurt and grieued, as sayth Isidore.
