OR Sulfur is named in Greeke 〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉,* 1.1 & is of two kindes, (vnder y^t which Plinie reconeth. 4) The one (which is the beste) is called 〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉,* 1.2 Hoc est uiuum, uel ignis non ex∣expers,* 1.3 & is taken out of the veyne without any boylyng. The other 〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉〈 in non-Latin alphabet 〉, id est igne incoctum, that is boiled sul∣fur.* 1.4 The best Sulfur uiuum, ought by Dioscorides to be fattye, greene, not stony: but bright, and shyninge lyke the glowe worme. Euery Sulfur (sayeth Galen) hath drawyng power, is whotte of temperament of nature discussiue,* 1.5 also swiftly concoctiue, and of so subtile essens, that it layde to, resisteth the peryls of many venemous woundes: and is a medicine approued, to heale scabbes, leprosies, scuruines, & itche.
