Fathers haue vsed to say, that Christe is Sacrificed, not only in the Holy Supper, but also in the Sacrament of Baptisme. S. Augustine saithe,* 1.1 Holocaustum Dominicae Passionis eo tempore pro se quisque offert, qno eiusdem Passionis Fide dedicatur: The Sacrifice of our Lordes Passion euery man then offereth for him selfe, when he is Confirmed in the Faithe of his Passion. And againe, Holo∣caustum Domini tunc pro vnoquoque offertur quodammodo,* 1.2 cùm eius nomine Baptizando signatur: Then is the Sacrifice of our Lorde In a Manner offered for eche man,* 1.3 when in Baptisme he is marked with the name of Christe. And againe, Non relin∣quitur Sacrificium pro peccatis:* 1.4 id est, non potest denuo Bapti∣zari: There is leafte no Sacrifice for Sinne: that is to say, He can be no more Baptized. And in this consideration Chrysostome saithe, Baptisma Christi Sanguis Christi est: Christes Baptisme, is Chtistes Bloude. And likevvise S. Ambrose, In Baptismo Cruci∣figimus in nobis Filium Dei: In Baptisme wee Crucifie in our selues the Sonne of God.
