THe Pontifies in old time appointed three men, whom theya 1.1 called Triumvios Epulonum (from Epulū a feast) to haue the oversight of the feasts made at sacrifices; after∣ward by reason of two twice added, they were called first Quinqueviri, and at length Septemviri Epulonum.
