ALTHO' it has been the com∣mon Practice, with Writers of Memoirs, to fill their Volumes with their own Praises, which, whatever Pleasure they may have afforded to the Authors, by indulging their Vanity, are seldom found to give any to the Readers; I am determined to quit this beaten Track; and by a strict Adherence to Truth, please even my greatest Enemies, by presenting them with a lively Picture of all my Faults,
