Founder and former president of Agrion Corporation and its Advanced Genetics Research Institute subsidiary, which researched and produced inactivated whole-virus vaccines for a dozen veterinary diseases, including the retrovirus of feline leukemia. Founding member and former director of the Association of Biotechnology Companies. Trained at Berkeley, and Yale in chemistry, human genetics, zoology, and biology. DINO DINA, MD (8:00 - 8:15 am PDT) President of Chiron Vaccines Corporation, one of very few companies still pursuing AIDS vaccine product development, with an "envelope" gp-120 candidate vaccine which has been found safe and immunogenic in completed phase I and phase II human trials. Also involved in R&D of vaccines for influenza, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex, hepatitis A and B, and meningococcus A and C. Formerly on the faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and member of the Cell and Developmental Biology Advisory Committee of the American Cancer Society. MAX ESSEX, DVM, PhD Professor, Harvard School of Public Health and Chairman, Harvard AIDS Institute. Virologist. Leading world authority on retroviruses, who first predicted in the early 1980s that AIDS was probably caused by this type of organism. Member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy
