3. Proposed Schedule of Future Telephone Briefmngs
The following is a suggested schedule for continuation of this series on AIDS vaccine
research and development:
SEPTEMBER: Week of 20- 29
OCTOBER: Week of 12 - 20
NOVEMBER:Week of 8 - 16
JANUARY: Week of 11 - 19
It is suggested that we arrange for about 6 informants per session, which should be
designed to last no more than 90 minutes. Recognizing the possibility of last-minute
cancellations, we may have to "overbook".
Recognizing the impossibility of identifying specific days and times that would meet the
schedules of all potential participants, It is suggested that priority for selecting the specific day
and time of the briefings should be according to 1st) the schedules of Research Committee
members, 2nd) the schedules of other PACHA members, and 3rd) the schedules of potential
informants.
4. Proposed AIDS Vaccine Hearings at December PACHA Meeting
It is suggested that the Research Committee devote at least 6 hours, divided into either
one or two days, at the planned 15-17 December 1996 meeting in Washington in order to
focus in some depth on the issues around AIDS vaccine research and development. This might
require arriving a day early, as has been done by other PACHA committees. Most of this time
might be allocated to hearings at which we invite specific experts and informants in the field,
including some who may have participated in prior conference calls from whom we would like
to hear further. The remainder of the time should be reserved for discussion among Research
Committee members, and, if appropriate by that time, for drafting of potential
recommendations to submit for Council action.
