Dear Shep,
Thank you very much for your invitation to participate in the discussions planned at the Cold
Spring Harbor Laboratory's Banbury Center on the issues of policy, strategy, and tactics toward
supporting the research and development of vaccines for AIDS. I would be pleased to attend
and contribute. It sounds like an exciting and important agenda.
Due to a prior commitment in Vancouver, Canada to help plan the program and review the
abstracts for the International Conference on AIDS this year, I will not be able to arrive in New
York until about 6:00 am on Monday March 25th, and thus must miss the Sunday night dinner.
Kindly please provide me with directions for a taxi or limousine service from Kennedy Airport
to find Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Monday morning.
In order to satisfy our Federal Government travel regulations, kindly please provide me a letter
stating that the meeting organizers "will be responsible for providing air and ground
transportation, lodging, meals, and related incidentals" and that "Federal funds are not a source
of support for this travel."
Since the Vancouver International AIDS Conference organizers will be providing for my return
flight from Vancouver to New York, it will only be necessary for the Sabin Foundation to
provide me with a one-way ticket from New York to Atlanta. A Delta airline flight from
LaGuardia to Atlanta on the afternoon or evening of March 26 would be most convenient for
me.
