Dear Sandy,
I just got back from three weeks overseas and got your fax of today's date searching for
mutually convenient conference call times. I've spent the whole day reading a backlog of emails and have not yet had a chance to look through a stack of mail that might contain earlier
correspondence from you or Scott about the "Research Committee".
But I wanted promptly to give you my feedback on the proposed times. I am available for all
the time slots you specified on the following days: Monday (9th), Tuesday (10th), Wednesday
(11th), Thursday (19th), and Friday (20th). I am unavailable for any time slots on Saturday,
21 October. On my available days, feel free to use any of the specified time slots that may be
required by the schedules of others.
As far as suggested agenda items, I would like to include:
1. Setting up conference calls to educate the Committee on particular topics of
interest for eventual Council action or recommendations by arranging
telephone "briefings" and "testimony" from outside experts, authorities,
and/or officials.
2. Ways to improve U.S. Government leadership and support for HIV vaccine
research and development.
3. Ways to improve U.S. Government leadership and support for topical anti-HIV
microbicide research and development.
