28 1 influenza vaccine, that's going to have to match every 2 strain that you could possibly come in contact with? 3 That's part of that question that can only be answered in 4 field trials, and that actually warrants moving into some 5 of the settings where different viruses are circulating. 6 But there are vaccines already made for 7 Thailand that are appropriate for Thailand but may not be 8 appropriate for this country, we think. There are already 9 vaccines made for this country that could be tested in this 10 country. So it wouldn't take very much time to make a 11 vaccine appropriate for South Africa or Uganda either, 12 based on what we know about making vaccines. 13 PARTICIPANT: I want to propose something to 14 the group. I believe we have the leadership in this 15 country to make this happen. The President of the United 16 States has billions of dollars out there to protect our 17 country and the rest of the world from Hussein letting 18 loose a combination of all kinds of diseases on everybody. 19 He is not Varmus. He says it might happen, so we're ready 20 to go in there, and we've got everybody there. 21 I'd like to know what the hell is the 22 difference here? Varmus would never do that, or Shalala, 23 or whoever. But aren't we trying to protect us and the 24 world from biological warfare, which is all these diseases? 25 What the hell is AIDS? It's on us.
