SUBJECT: Request for Input for White House Conf.

Dear Colleagues,
The Research Committee of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV
and AIDS (PACHA) has issued a Solicitation of Public Comment for input
on the federal research effort to solve the epidemic. Below please find
an electronic copy of the document.
The document has already been circulated widely in various AIDS
constituency communities. The first formal submission has already
been received from Dr. John Moore of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research
Center, and I will fax it to those of you for whom I have fax numbers
for your interest on the issues and points that he raised.
It would be very important for the community of public-healthoriented scientists, researchers, and interested individuals,
organization, and companies concerned about the state of federal
efforts to develop vaccines for HIV/AIDS to provide their own statements
to the Committee and the Council. I hope you will be kind enough to pass
this Solicitation of Public Comment onwards as soon as possible
so that the Committee and Council can receive input from as wide and
diverse individuals and or anizations with expertise and useful comments
on this subject.
For your convenience, below please find the names, fax numbers, and addresses
of the 23 current members of the Council (7 more will be named soon).
Although the solicitation invites faxed input to the 8 members of the
Research Committee, it may be useful to share it by fax and mailed
confirmation copies with all Council members.
