Plaintiffs, by their attorneys Cooper, Beckman &
Tuerk and Kreindler & Kreindler complaining of the defendants
allege as follows:
1. Plaintiffs William F. Miller, Jr. and Deborah
Miller, his wife, are residents of the State of Maryland and
Plaintiff William Miller has been maintained in the Intensive
Care Unit of the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore
City, Maryland, continuously since February 23, 1984.
2. Lederle Laboratories, a Division of American
Cyanamid Co. (hereinafter called "Lederle"), was and is in
the business of developing, manufacturing, distributing and
selling a polio virus vaccine known as the Sabin oral polio
vaccine and sold under the name Orimune.
