3 If we even take a nonglycocelated product,
4 which is again derived from SF-2 but it's made in
5 yeast, again in a novel adjuvant, we find eleven of
6 fourteen tested so far of thirty-six patients having
7 neutralizing antibody and fusion inhibition antibody.

9 So in HIV seronegative patients, the
10 baculovirus derived gp-160 is actually the least
11 potent immunogen in seronegative persons. The major
12 responses are to 3B antigen, appear to be to
13 nonconfirmational epitopes, and functional antibody is
14 significantly less than what is seen in any of the
15 other envelope products.
16 Next slide. Now I'd like to then maybe
17 move a little bit more to a situation in which we are
18 using the gp-160 more analogous to potentially maybe
19 a seropositive, and these are data that we have
20 derived in Seattle with my colleagues, Phil Greenberg
21 and Shula Ku.
