1 Third question: Can post-infection
2 vaccination reduce viral burden, recalling again in
3 Phase I we can only get an uncontrolled estimate of
4 this, as quantitated either by measurement of
5 infectious HIV in either the plasma or PBM C-culture
6 or, thought to be even more significant, measurement
7 of HIV genomic material.
8 To date, no reproducible evidence has been
9 seen in this area. However, we point out that the key
10 assays of the genomic assays for RNA and DNA remain in
11 development, remain essentially laboratory tools or
12 reproducible within a single institution or laboratory
13 but have not been yet applied in a broader sense.

15 Then, finally, if we see effects on immune
16 responses, CD4, viral load or safety, the previous
17 four slides, we then must ask: What patient
18 populations does this apply to? We can at least speak
19 of three or four potential patient populations.
20 We can speak of patients with mild,
21 moderate or severe immunosuppression by dividing them
22 into three different CD4 groupings, usually above 500,
