4 We'll discuss the rationale for
5 therapeutic vaccination, talk briefly about what data
6 there is from animal models, discuss the list of
7 vaccine candidates which are in trial for this
8 indication.
9 We'll overview the results reported to
10 date with this approach, recalling that Doctors
11 Valentine and Corey will be presenting the data in
12 much more detail with respect to gp-160. We will then
13 look at what is the strategy, that is, the key
14 scientific questions to be addressed, and then
15 conclude. Next slide.
16 Now let's remind ourselves briefly of the
17 salient features of the natural history of HIV
18 infection, a disease which is characterized in this
19 slide over the full time course extending out, in many
20 cases, well over a dozen years.
21 We plot here the state of the immune
