1 I feel very strongly that the spirit of
2 today's meeting was exactly what we need in order to
3 come with an appropriate response to the Congress. I
4 feel very heartened and optimistic that what will come
5 out of this will be very positive and instructive. I
6 thank you.
7 I think that there's a lot of work that
8 has to be done between now and the next meeting based
9 on the suggestions that came to the table. And NIH
10 and Tony, as the head of the AIDS effort here, will
11 see that that's done so that when you come for the
12 next meeting, that you'll have some proposals and some
13 advance thinking, both on what a protocol might look
14 like and also some of the details that I think the
15 Army or the Department of Defense outlined that's
16 essential.
17 You know, what are the appropriate
18 candidates that we might think about? Is there one?
19 Are there many? Whenever you do a clinical trial, you
20 always, sooner or later, have to bite the bullet.
21 You're never quite sure if you're choosing the right
22 agent. You may know the trial is a good thing to do,
