1 the best use of the money would be to give it to me
2 and let me decide exactly how to spend it on whatever
3 I want.
4 But I do think that there are some
5 restrictions within that. And I think that we have to
6 stick with the spirit of the legislation.
7 CO-CHAIRMAN FAUCI: We're getting late in
8 the hour, but, David, do you have a question?
9 QUESTION FROM AUDIENCE: Just one quick
10 comment on the idea of the spirit of the legislation
11 because I don't think we can ignore the fact that I
12 believe that, however ill-intentioned or what the
13 motives of some people were, there was a motive on the
14 part of Congress to try to see if there were any
15 possible promising vaccine therapies or answers over
16 the next few years.
17 I think the other point was brought up
18 earlier that other potential therapies, vaccine
19 therapies, that need to be developed on the ground up
20 are so important because, if anything, I think we
21 could thank Frank Volvovitz for putting us all here
22 and focusing on the idea of vaccine therapies. Where
