1 I take your point and Dr. Yusuf's point.
2 I think that is a good thing to try and work that into
3 it somehow, but we really do have to ultimately do a
4 trial that's doable. And I think that that's a
5 working group meeting to talk about what can actually
6 be done in the trial.
7 The one area I would disagree with you is
8 the issue about the CD4s and the so-called X factor
9 because, in fact, it's not one trial. It's a number
10 of trials, and these data have been looked at lots of
11 different ways.
12 I think the overall sense is really still
13 that CD4 is not a very reliable surrogate market.
14 That doesn't mean it's not useful for patient
15 management. It doesn't mean it's not an important
16 prognostic factor.
17 But whether the little bumps and
18 oscillations that you get from therapy really tell you
19 bow well the therapy is working is something that is
20 just not well-established, and I would still feel very
21 strongly that that's the case.
