2 really must answer. Thank you.
3 DIRECTOR HEALY: At this point I'd like to
4 turn the Chair over to Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr.
5 Charles Carpenter, who will oversee this panel; and,
6 of course, the deliberations and views and
7 perspectives of this panel will be a report made to
8 both me and then I will share that with Dr. Kessler.
9 CO-CHAIRMAN FAUCI: Thank you very much,
10 Dr. Healy. I'd like to welcome you all on behalf of
11 the NIH and the FDA and the Department of Defense, all
12 of us here, as well as my Co-Chair, Dr. Charles
13 Carpenter.
14 As you heard from Dr. Healy, we have a
15 mandate for this meeting, and there is a considerable
16 amount of information that we need to analyze before
17 we can really intelligently get into some of the
18 decision making process that we have had mandated to
19 us by Dr. Healy.
20 So what I would like to do is, first of
21 all, just in the matter of format, have us all on this
22 committee and this panel introduce ourselves, who we
