1 I think there are the kinds of precedents
2 that have done that in anti-retroviral therapy. I
3 think that, again, in the comparison trial, it's very
4 important that if you have real modest CD4
5 improvements, I think that if it's done in all the
6 vaccines, that's going to really help support the idea
7 that that's good.
8 I also think that it's important that we
9 recognize that I really support the idea that this be
10 tested in lower T cells because people with low T
11 cells are dying now. So we need answers for those
12 people relatively quickly.
13 As a member of the gay community who has
14 done this before, I don't want to have to go into a
15 production lab in Mexico and produce gp 160 to
16 distribute to people with low T cells, but I will if
17 that's what I have to do because the community wants
18 options that do not exist. And that's going to
19 happen, I think, if the powers that be don't pull it
20 off quickly.
21 I think we also have to think about the
22 fact that CD4 drops in a control trial over three
