2 DR. WARA: Do you want me to try?
3 CO-CHAIRMAN CARPENTER: Yes.
4 DR. WARA: I think probably that could be
5 cut to four months. I don't think that starting and
6 completing a trial within four months can be improved
7 much upon.
8 I do have one thought, though. What we've
9 not addressed yet in the context of these vaccine
10 trials is isolating the group of children whom I
11 pointed out were very rapid progressors in terms of
12 their disease states. And that's a group that I think
13 we should think very carefully about looking at with
14 vaccines.
15 CO-CHAIRMAN CARPENTER: Dave and then Mr.
16 Harrington?
17 DR. ROGERS: Just one comment regarding
18 safety. I will reluctantly admit that in this room
19 some years ago, I was the chair of the committee that
20 recommended we proceed with the swine flu vaccine. It
21 wasn't until we had several hundred thousand people
22 that we recognized we were in trouble.
