1 vaccines are immunogenic. This again is a Phase I
2 double blind placebo-controlled trial looking at three
3 vaccines listed for you in asymptomatic infected
4 children.
5 Ninety children will be enrolled into
6 these three trials. And, again, in each of the three
7 vaccines, there will be a control group reflected by
8 infants or children who receive adjuvant alone.
9 If one looks at these studies then, there
10 are actually five trials, which should be ongoing
11 within the next three months and I think offer us
12 quite quickly an opportunity to answer some of the
13 questions that you all have posed. I just wanted you
14 to know what we are planning for pediatrics.

16 CO-CHAIRMAN CARPENTER: Thank you very
17 much, Diane. I think I should point out that these
18 studies will be done in parallel with the things we're
19 talking about today and are in no way competitive with
20 those. They're very critical because ultimately we
21 all hope that the HIV will be a childhood vaccine.
