1 that if these proven infected children had their 2 disease course slowed following immunization, then 3 rather than having a clinical endpoint, as we would 4 have in adult trials, which is at a great distance in 5 time from immunization, the entire program could be 6 brought much closer together. We might get clinical 7 endpoints earlier. I just want to throw that thought 8 and observation open to you. 9 Secondly, prevention of perinatal HIV 10 transmission obviously is a goal for us in pediatrics 11 -- it's one of our major goals -- by immunizing either 12 HIV-infected pregnant women and looking at whether we 13 can decrease the transmission to their offspring or, 14 I believe preferably, in the hepatitis b model 15 immunizing all offspring born to HIV-infected women to 16 see if we can decrease the transmission. 17 I think we can answer the transmission 18 questions quite quickly, much more quickly and using 19 far fewer patients than would be required were we to 20 approach the adult population. 21 I have to remind you that there's a good 22 deal of debate, and I think many individuals around NEAL R.
