1 point to recommend that we proceed with a large-scale
2 Phase II trial of gp 160 as an immunotherapeutic
3 agent.
4 I think we want to be fair to all possible
5 candidates in this discussion. I think there was one
6 gap in the discussion before the gap. I'd like Dr.
7 Fauci to address that.
8 CO-CHAIRMAN FAUCI: It has to do with the
9 comment that was made by Frank Volvovitz as well as
10 from several of the people in the audience at the
11 break, which I think really has some merit to it. And
12 that is: Are we really seeing all of the data? And
13 do we have a clear understanding of the data in the
14 MicroGenesys study?
15 Now, we asked in this first meeting to
16 have an overview of that, not to go into each and
17 every one of the details. That was not done. But I
18 have just spoken to individuals involved in this study
19 to see if it would be fair to summarize the state of
20 knowledge of the study excluding the Phase II
21 controlled trial, which is a double blind controlled
22 trial of which we don't know what the data is.
