Dear Barbara:
Since you are a very compassionate person and have a deep
interest in government sponsored AIDS research, I am appealing to
you on behalf of Tema Luft, a dear friend of Rebecca and me, who
has AIDS. Tema is the daughter of Holocaust survivors which
makes her present plight even more tragic. Rebecca and I
greatly admire how brave she is and how determined she is to
prolong her life.
I am enclosing copies of two letters she recently sent to
government agencies in which she very articulately asked that
her government not abandon her at a time when she desperately
needs access to a new AIDs' drug. Please take the time to read
these letters and then, I would appreciate it if you would give
me a call so we can discuss whether you could help her. For your
information, I am also approaching some of the leadership at
Hopkins Hospital to see if, through Hopkins, there is some way
Tema can have the drug she needs.
