Dr. John A. Wohlhieter

COL Dangerfield opened our meeting with an explanation of the
informal investigation and the tasks for which he was responsible
to determine facts; he reviewed the allegations that had prompted
the investigation and asked if I had any knowledge pertinent to
them.
I responded initially be explaining my duties as Deputy
Director of the Division of Retrovirology which encompass the
administrative aspects of the Division, i.e., personnel, money,
contracts, etc.
I then stated that the only investigative task that I had any
direct knowledge of was related to the Americans for a Sound
AIDS/HIV Policy (ASAP). Both COL Burke and LTC Redfield have dealt
with the organization but I am unaware of the nature of the
relationship. I do know that Mr. Smith has helped them keep
abreast of the political aspects of the research program. I was
unaware that COL Burke had resigned from the organization.
COL Dangerfield observed that agreat deal of time and effort
was being expended in writina MFRs.
