Dear Mr. Cohen:
This is in response to your letter dated February 18, 1993 to
the U.S. Army, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR),
Washington, DC, requesting information pertaining to the 15-6
investigation of Lieutenant Colonel Robert Redfield. It has been
brought to this agency's attention that for some reason your request
was either misdirected or misplaced. In any event, we would like to
take this opportunity to bring you up to date concerning this issue.
Yesterday, Mr. Bowers, this agency's Freedom of Information Act
officer was made aware of this issue for the first time. Upon
notification of your FAX message to Mr. Talbott (OSD(PA)), he
immediately contacted Mr. Dasey, the Public Affairs Officer (PAO)
for the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command who
verified that he did have your FAX'd message and had spoken with you
on May 28, 1993 concerning this issue. It is our understanding that
the 15-6 investigation is in the final stage of completion. Upon
completion, that report, along with your request, will be forwarded
to this agency for review, release determination and direct response
to you.
This is an interim response to your request for information. It
is not to be construed as either a denial or approval of your
request, but merely to inform you that we are in receipt of your
inquiry and will respond in more detail as soon as the investigation
has been completed and reviewed.
