About the Forum for Collaborative IV Research The Forum for Collaborative HIV Research (FCHR) is a project of the Center for Health Policy Research at the George Washington University. FCHR is a coalition of pharmaceutical companies, patient advocacy organizations, government agencies, clinical researchers, and third-party payers- FCHR facilitates discussion to identify the gaps and impediments to HIV clinical research, and catalyzes the participants to move the research effort forward. About the National Minoriy AIDS Council The National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC) was formed in 1987 to develop leadership within communities of color to address issues of HIV infection. Today, NMAC represents more than 3,000 groups serving communities affected by HIV throughout the U.S. Its members are community-based organizations that deal with AIDS on the front lines -- in hospitals and clinics, shelters and schools, storefronts and streets. NMAC's goals are to lend visibility, leadership, educational messages and materials, comprehensive technical assistance, and a powerful national voice to those front line workers. About the National Institutes of Health Office of AIDS Research Established in 1988, the Office of AIDS Research, a component of the Office of the Director of NIH, has primary responsibility for planning, coordinating, evaluating, and funding all NIH AIDS research. The NIH AIDS Research Program supports basic biomedical and clinical research to identify and develop new therapeutic drugs and vaccines to prevent and treat HIV infection and its sequelae. NIH AIDS research is conducted at the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. In addition, NIH provides support for AIDS research conduced at universities, medical schools, and other institutions in the United States and abroad. 4 TOTAL P.05
