What is the Pediatric AIDS Foundation?
The Pediatric AIDS Foundation is the only national
organization identifying, funding and conducting pediatric
AIDS research internationally.
Co-founded by Elizabeth Glaser, Susan DeLaurentis, and Susie
Zeegen in 1988, the Foundation's primary objective is to
create a future that offers hope through research leading to
effective therapies and methods for blocking transmission
from infected mothers to newborns.
While many organizations help children survive day-to-day
by providing food, medicine and lodging, the Pediatric AIDS
Foundation is the only organization focused specifically on
finding medical answers that will bring hope to children with
HIV/AIDS.
The Foundation has been a leader in establishing a national
pediatric AIDS research agenda, influencing public policy and
creating broader public awareness and compassion
throughout the world about HIV/AIDS in children.
The fight against pediatric AIDS is not futile. This is a battle we
can win by working together. This is a battle we must win for
our children and for ourselves.
The problem we face is urgency. Every month, indeed every
day, is critical. Children are dying who could be saved.
Children are suffering when their quality of life could be
improved. As new drugs are tested, as lives are lengthened,
our hope is strengthened.
