What Every Pregnant Woman Should Know about HIV and AIDS
Are you pregnant or do you think you may be pregnant? If so, this pamphlet is for you. There are some things you can do to help your baby be born healthy. It is important to visit a doctor or clinic as early in your pregnancy as possible. As part of your normal prenatal care, your doctor will give you several tests to ensure your health and the health of your baby. These tests include blood type, Rh factor, iron level and other tests to see if you will need special care for any medical problems you might have. As a part of your routine care you should also have a confidential HIV test. However, it is even better if you know if you're infected with HIV before you get pregnant, since early treatment could help you and your baby.
