Washington, D.C. 20418 Dear Colleagues, The following is an addendum to my letter to you from Jan 12, 1993. In this letter I have submitted the opinion that the current editor of the Proceedings of the National Academy, Dr. Lawrence Bogorad, holds a strong bias in favor of Dr. Robert Gallo's virus-AIDS hypothesis. The following example further supports my claim. At the 8th International AIDS Conference in Amsterdam in July 1992, the AIDS orthodoxy officially recognized the existence of HIV-free AIDS cases. In view of this, Bogorad even authorized advanced circulation of a paper by Salahuddin et al. that claimed a "new AIDS virus" while it was in press in the Proceedings (PNAS 89, 7831-7835, 1992). Since HIV-free AIDS is entirely consistent with my hypothesis that drugs and AZT cause AIDS, at that time I requested reconsideration of my paper "The role of drugs in AIDS" for publication in the Proceedings (see my letters of Aug 14, Sept 4, and Oct 9, 1992). However, Bogorad favored Salahuddin et al's "new virus" over my drug hypothesis, although Salahuddin is one of several researchers from Gallo's lab who have been convicted of felony charges (see my letter of Aug 14, 1992), while I am an Academy member in good standing. Yet in our correspondence Bogorad pointed out to me that "the Proceedings considers papers which are submitted for publication in an orderly and regular manner" (see Bogorad's letter of Oct 13, 1992).
